Hi! Today my post is on what to do during an earthquake. During an earthquake, many people panic and try to run to safety. If you find yourself in one,DO NOT try to do this. Injury statistics show that people moving as little as ten feet during an earthquake are most likely to be injured. The first thing to do is Drop underneath something sturdier and taller than you are, Cover the back of your head and neck with one of your arms, and Hold on in case the thing you are under moves. If you are indoors, stay away from glass, windows and anything that could fall down an hurt you, such as lighting fixtures and picture frames. If you are in bed when an earthquake happens, stay there and protect your head with a pillow. Do not use the elevators in a tall building, as you could get trapped in one if the power went out. If you are outdoors, remain there but watch out for buildings, streetlights and telephone lines. If you become trapped underneath debris, do not light any matches and cover your nose and mouth with a handkerchief or other cloth to avoid breathing in any dust. Surprisingly, it is advised not to shout for help because it will make you inhale too much dust.Instead, try to tap on a wall or pipe to let rescuers know where you are.
