It's import to have a day pack. A day pack is what you would carry when you go on hiking trips, camping, scout camps, etc. It's really good to have. So I've been hunting around on the internet and have looked at several web-sights and videos on it. But I decided to settle with telling you what's in my day pack.
(These aren't listed in any particular order.)
A windbreaker. If you put this over your regular jacket or coat, it will keep the wind out of your clothes.
Compass. You never know when you might get lost!
Life straw! Portable water filter. That will come in handy!
Bandanna, for when it gets hot and other things.
A good Pocket Knife! You wouldn't want any flimsy pocket knife in a survival situation. Go find a good one!
A heat source. (Solar blanket etc.)
Rope. You never know when you will need that!
Garbage bag (just in case) and a Poncho, wouldn't want to be stuck in the rain with out that!
Heat pads. The ones that you hold in your hand. You'll want those!
I have some hard candy and Snickers in my pack. Snickers are really good to have, because of the carbs and protein, as well as the calories.
Safety pins. It will help to hold things together. It also as other uses. Think about it.
 Whistle. Very important.
Flashlight and extra batteries. You wouldn't want to be stuck in the dark with out a light source.
Chapstick. Not much of a necessity. But I hate chapped lips!
 Bandaids and Neosporin.
 Latex gloves
Disinfectant wipes. You might want hand sanitizer too.
Off wipes and blister treatment/ Moleskin
Heavy duty trash bag. This can be used as shelter and a windbreaker,
 Walky talky.
 Lighter
 Waterproof sunscreen
 Waterproof matches
Cotton balls dipped in vaseline. These are really good to have. They are really good fire starters. They burn for over five minutes. They are good for chapped places and wounds.
I also have a pioneer button game. Just for fun.
I cary all of this in a backpack. If you don't have a day pack, make one! This might just save your life someday.
