- Layer your clothing.
- Block off all unneeded rooms by closing the doors.
- Shove towels and other fabric or clothing under doors to keep in heat.
- Keep you heat sources at least three feet away from drapes and furniture.
- Move your necessities into the warm area you have blocked off.
- Be aware of the dangers of electrical problems.
- Stay inside
- Make sure to keep your body fueled with plenty of food and water. Your body has a natural heat source.
- Move around but don't sweat.
- Turn off appliances and unplug major equipment like tv's and computers. That will help protect against power surges.
- When power has been restored, turn on and plug in equipment one at a time.
- Never use a charcoal grill inside the home. It gives off deadly fumes. Use grills only outside.
